NEW course offered at UTHealth Houston School of Public Health: Community Violence in Public Health
VIPR is excited to share a new course offered at UTHealth Houston School of Public Health as part of the Injury and Violence Prevention Certificate. PH3642 Community Violence in Public Health, taught by Dr. Testa, is open to ALL currently enrolled students. Non-UTHealth individuals can register to audit the class.
About the course:
Violence imposes a profound social, economic, and emotional toll on communities across the United States. This course will explore the complexities of community violence - examining how violence affects individuals, families, and communities and shapes public health outcomes. The course will assess risk factors, patterns, and social determinants contributing to community violence, alongside a critical review of evidence-based prevention and intervention strategies.
