The impact of Texas' Electronic Sexual Assault Evidence Kit (SAK) Tracking Reform
Tuesday July 15, 12 - 1 PM
Join Dr. Hannah Rochford for a discussion about the impact of Texas' electronic SAK reform provisions on (1) emergency department care for sexual assault, and (2) sexual assault reporting to law enforcement was estimated using quasi-experimental approaches. Findings suggest this policy change may be particularly beneficial for survivors in counties that lack sexual assault forensic exam-ready (SAFE-ready) facilities.
Hannah Rochford, PhD, MPH is an Assistant Professor at Texas A&M University School of Public Health. Dr. Rochford's research aims to identify policy opportunities to prevent and/or respond effectively to different types of violent harm, including intimate partner and sexual violence, child maltreatment, lethal violence, and firearm-related harm. She employs quasi-experimental designs, legal epidemiology, and mixed methods approaches to understand the nature and impact of policy changes across sub-groups.
